REACH’s child and adolescent Day Treatment Program is an intensive outpatient service focused on improving the quality of life of children and adolescents through intensive, structured, goal-oriented interventions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

REACH Counseling Services offers Day Treatment year round and consists of 3 hours of group-based therapeutic activities under the direction of REACH’s Clinical Psychologist.

DAY TREATMENT INCLUDES:

  • Activities to promote healthy emotion regulation
  • Self-awareness and goal setting
  • Activities to promote improved relationships with peers and adults
  • Psychoeducation
  • Skills development
  • Interpersonal and social competency
  • Problem solving
  • Conflict resolution
  • Developing positive coping skills
  • Symptom management to enhance vocational opportunities, school opportunities, and/or independent living

The ultimate goal of the Day Treatment Program is the student’s successful transition back to the public school district, post-secondary opportunity, or vocational/employment program. Therefore, both academic coursework and therapeutic sessions are center in providing the student with the needed skills to succeed in adulthood.

  • Self Advocacy – Allows students to identify their needs, set and achieve realistic goals, and actively manage their disability.
  • Workplace Readiness – Training in communication and manual skills that may be required on the job, such as interviewing skills and the understanding of the expectations of future employers.
  • Daily Living Skills – Helps students to function independently on a daily basis. Students are taught self-care, as well as money management, housing, identification of community resources, and appropriate social interactions.

Referrals made to the Day Treatment Program must come through the Special Education Department of the child’s public school district. For more information on enrolling a child, please contact the school office of your nearest Education Alternatives building.
